The Discover Downtown Series is a free collection of four events put on by Parks and Recreation in partnership with Prosper Economic Development Corporation. This event series is hosted in the heart of Prosper to help provide residents and visitors a glimpse into the revitalization and growth of the downtown Prosper area. All the events are outdoors and they give an opportunity for those in the community to get to know the economic core of Prosper.
Getting out and enjoying these free community events allows you to also take in the surrounding 40+ hometown locally owned businesses and merchants that call the town of Prosper home. Downtown Prosper engages with an active nightlife scene during these events and food and beverages are available prior to all of the discover downtown events. Come out early to enjoy a bite to eat and hang out in the downtown Prosper area before or after events.
This year in 2022 there are four Discover Downtown Series events that began in the month of June. There are still two fun downtown series events to enjoy coming up soon.
This event is family-friendly for every single member of the family and has a focus geared toward our most beloved furry family members. It will take place on September 10 from 1 PM to 4 PM.
There will be ball pits, mini swimming pools, obstacle courses, paw painting, and competitions set up all along Broadway Street. In addition to all of the fun activities to get a furry friend involved in there will be several exhibits that include items like trainers, treats, spa and resort services, animal clinics, and an exhibit by the Collin County Animal Shelter. Of course, all of these are centered on your dog.
At 2:15 there will be a doggy dance-off where dogs and their owners are given 30 seconds to win over the crowd with their dancing skills in hopes of winning the grand prize.
At 3:15 is the Puppy Chow Down which is a Puppa-ccino eating contest with a prize awarded to the dog who finishes their Puppa-ccino the fastest.
All contest registrations open at 1 PM at the event headquarters tent on Broadway. Make sure to register as soon as possible as space for contests is limited and is on a first come first serve basis.
The Moonlight movie night will be in the Townhall parking lot and will wrap up the Discover Downtown free event series for the year. Moonlight Movie Night is on September 24 starting at 7 PM. The event begins with strolling characters, lawn games, popcorn, and shaved ice. The free movie showing in the park will be Disney's Encanto. Bring your own lawn chair or comfy blanket to claim your spot on the lawn and settle in for the show. This event was scheduled later into September due to the very warm temperatures in the summer and you don't want to miss it.
