Keeping up with the latest housing trends and styles can be exhaustive. As a home builder, a real estate broker and a fan of new construction homes I experience this all the time. It seems like every day we see a new trend or someone tries to tell us what the new emerging trend is going to be in home styles.
My advice is build a home style that you love and do not follow a trend. If you follow the trend, you will not be happy, trust me on this one. We see so many clients that retret buy the home du jour and really wish that had built that craftsman style or whatever their preference was.
However, we all love to see what other people are building or the style they choose to remodel. So we have tracked the top ten home styles on our website for your review and enjoyment. This data is retricted to our website and only reflects our clients interests in DFW and should not be used in any serious compilation of national or local data metrics.
I have to be honest, my favorite home style is Craftsman and it didn't even make the top 10 list! I was really shocked by the home styles that make the list and the fact that the Barnominiums beat the #2 place entry by 1,200% more! That is a huge margin and why Texas Barndominiums reign supream at Livingwell.realty.
The Barndominium is popular due to many factors, but the most important is value. A barndo is an inexpensive home to build so long as you watch your budget. Many factors go into the cost of a barndominium: land, home size, and finish out quality. You can search the web for tools and spreadsheets that will help you plan exactly how to 'build' your barndominium and keep you at a certain final cost.
