When we travel and folks hear that we live in Texas, they often ask how much land we own. Do we have cows or oil wells and how amazing is it to live in Texas?
We we don't have an oil well or cows, but we do think living in Texas is amazing. Until August rolls around with its 105 degree heat, but thats another topic.
We live on what is called a Ranchette. These are usually homes that sit on 40 acres of land or smaller. They have become quite popular with folks that have horses, want a garden or have become hooked on the 'home-steading' trend.
Land in Texas has skyrocketed in price over the last few years. The COVID effect created a passion in folks to flee the cities and try their hand at being off the grid. Many of these properties are now coming back on the market. They discovered working the land is hard!
Keep in mind that Texas charges you a tax for your home and lands value every year and it seems to always keep going up. These taxes never stop, so think ahead to retirement.
Our neighbors just purchased a home for almost one million dollars with a small home on it just to demolish the home. All they wanted was the 6 acre tract of land. Due to the high price of smaller tracts of land near Frisco, Prosper and Celina land prices have skyrocketed.
Many people have resorted to purchasing a great piece of land with an ugly home and just removing the home. Then they can design and build their dream home on a nice piece of land near where they want to live.
